SPC Flooring for Hotels & Hospitality

Floors that hold up to guest traffic, read like real timber, and stay quiet between rooms.

A hotel floor works two shifts a day. It greets arriving guests in a lobby that never empties, then has to feel calm and warm inside the room a few metres away. SPC handles both because you can specify the wear rating zone by zone while keeping one visual language throughout the property. MILAT manufactures SPC and LVT in Gaziantep for hotel groups and fit-out contractors who need that consistency across dozens of rooms.

Match the wear layer to the zone

Lobbies, reception, corridors and lift lobbies see wheeled luggage, heels and constant footfall. That is AC5 territory, the maximum wear class, which our Triollo EIR line is built for as heavy commercial. Guest rooms and suites are lighter duty, so you can balance budget there without dropping the look. Specifying by zone keeps cost sensible and the visual continuous.

Waterproof where hotels usually fail

En-suite bathrooms, wet-room thresholds, spa areas and back-of-house kitchens are where traditional wood-look floors swell and lift. MILAT's SPC core is 100% waterproof, so the same plank can run from the bedroom into the bathroom without a material change or an ugly transition strip. For pool surrounds, spas and other genuinely wet, barefoot areas, confirm the slip requirement with us per project rather than assuming a rating.

Design realism guests notice

Embossed-in-register (EIR) texture aligns the surface grain with the printed decor, so the plank feels like the wood or stone it depicts under bare feet and under lighting. Our 2X UV coating protects that decor against the sun that pours into south-facing rooms. With 3 collections and 54 designs, plus custom colours, you can hit a brand standard instead of settling for the closest stock match.

Quiet rooms, calmer guests

Noise complaints drive bad reviews. An IXPE acoustic backing of up to 21 dB softens footfall inside the room and reduces sound carrying to the floor below. Pair that with the room layout your acoustic consultant specifies; MILAT can supply the acoustic-backed construction to match.

Built for phased fit-out

Refurbishments rarely close a whole hotel at once. Licensed Unilin click installs floor by floor, often over existing sound subfloors, so wings reopen while others are still being turned. That keeps rooms earning revenue during the works.

  • Lobbies and corridors: AC5 heavy-commercial wear
  • Guest bathrooms and spas: 100% waterproof core
  • Room-to-room comfort: IXPE acoustic up to 21 dB
  • Brand colour matching: custom decors and sizes
  • Certified: FloorScore, CE, ISO 9001/14001/45001 and more

Housekeeping will love it or hate it within a week

Hotel floors are cleaned more often than any home floor, on a schedule, by staff with minutes per room. That routine punishes fussy surfaces. SPC asks for nothing exotic: vacuum or dust mop, damp mop with a neutral cleaner, done. No buffing cycles, no periodic resealing, no grout lines collecting a grey shadow down the corridor centre. The 2X UV coating resists the scuffing that trolley wheels and vacuum heads inflict daily. When you brief housekeeping, the whole training is one line: no wax, no abrasives, no steam. Floors that simplify the cleaning spec quietly reduce labour cost every single day of the asset's life, which is the kind of saving that never appears in the fit-out budget but always appears in operations.

Wheels, castors and the luggage problem

Guests do not carry luggage anymore, they roll it, and hard castors loaded with thirty kilos work a floor like a milling tool. Add housekeeping trolleys, room-service carts and mini-bar restocking, and corridors see rolling loads all day. Specify for it: the heavier wear ratings, up to AC5 on MILAT boards, exist precisely for this traffic class. Protect the pinch points, lift lobbies, corridor corners and door thresholds, where wheels turn under load and concentrate wear. Soft castors on the hotel's own trolleys are a cheap upgrade that extends any floor's life, and felt pads under room furniture stop the slow shuffle-scratch of chairs used at desks.

Getting SPC through brand standards and the mock-up room

Chain hotels do not buy floors, they approve them. The path runs through the brand's design standards, the consultant's specification and a mock-up room that owners, operators and designers all walk. A manufacturer helps or hinders at every step. What speeds approval: certification documents in the manufacturer's own name, CE Declarations of Performance, FloorScore for indoor air quality, acoustic data for the attached IXPE layer, and physical samples in project quantities without a fight. MILAT supports mock-up stages as standard and can hold a custom decor for a brand so every future property specifies the identical floor. Once a decor is in the standard, reorders across the portfolio become routine rather than a new procurement battle each time.

Think in refurbishment cycles, not install dates

Hospitality assets renovate on a rhythm: soft goods often, full refits less frequently. A floor should be chosen against that rhythm. SPC's position is attractive because the surface is durable enough to span cycles while the floating click format keeps end-of-life cheap: planks come up without demolition, the subfloor beneath is untouched, and the next scheme installs over the same slab. Keeping attic stock from the original batch lets engineering swap damaged planks invisibly for years. Owners comparing floor options on purchase price alone miss where hospitality money actually goes; the cheaper comparison is cost across two refurbishment cycles, including the nights a room cannot be sold during works.

Zones where we would specify something else

Honesty builds better specifications. Commercial kitchens behind the pass belong to safety flooring and drainage falls, not click floors. Pool surrounds and steam rooms are tile-and-membrane territory; SPC serves the changing corridors and spa lounges around them. Exterior terraces are out entirely. And in a grand lobby where the design brief calls for stone, real stone may simply be the right answer, with SPC taking over in corridors, guestrooms and back-of-house where its comfort, acoustics and speed pay off. A floor supplier who tells you where their product stops is one you can trust about where it belongs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can one floor run from the bedroom into the en-suite?

Yes. The SPC core is 100% waterproof, so the same plank continues into the bathroom without a material change, which removes a transition strip and a common failure point.

Which wear rating should hotel corridors use?

AC5, the maximum wear class. Our Triollo EIR line is rated heavy commercial and suits lobbies, corridors and lift lobbies where luggage and footfall never stop.

Will it help with noise between rooms?

An IXPE acoustic backing of up to 21 dB reduces impact sound within the room and to the floor below. Final acoustic performance depends on your full floor build-up, which we can match.

Can you match our brand's colour palette?

We manufacture our own decors and offer custom colours and sizes, so we can develop a floor to your brand standard rather than the nearest stock design.

Is SPC suitable around pools and spas?

Waterproofing is not the issue; slip safety is. Barefoot wet zones have specific slip requirements, so confirm those with us per project rather than assuming a rating.

Can we refurbish wing by wing without closing?

Yes. The licensed Unilin click system installs section by section, so you can reopen finished floors while work continues elsewhere in the property.

How should housekeeping clean SPC floors in a hotel?

Vacuum or dust mop daily, damp mop with a neutral cleaner as needed. No wax, no abrasives, no steam. The routine is simpler than most hard floors, which saves housekeeping time every day.

Can SPC flooring handle luggage trolleys and rolling loads?

Specified correctly, yes. Choose the heavier commercial wear ratings, up to AC5, protect corridor corners and thresholds, and fit soft castors on house trolleys. Rolling traffic is the main reason wear rating matters in hotels.

What documents do hotel brands need to approve a floor?

Certification in the manufacturer's own name: CE Declarations of Performance, FloorScore indoor air certification, acoustic performance data and consistent samples for the mock-up room. Having the file ready is often what keeps a project on schedule.
